Health Fair and Kids Fun Day
Saturday, April 5, 2008, 10am to 2pm
The office of Assembly member Jim Beall and the Central School’s Childrens Health Initiative will Host a Health Fair at Miner Elementary School (Miner Elementary school is located at 5629 Lean Ave. San Jose Ca 95123) Gardner will have a booth. Our dietician will have examples of Healthy Meals and hand out literature for Healthy Eating and Sport Water Bottles.

Unity in Diversity 2008 Evolving, Affirming & Educating
Tuesday, May 6, 2008, 10:30-1:30 pm
The County of Santa Clara will honor and value our prominently diverse community through a variety of Unity in Diversity Events. This event will be held at the County Government Center located at 70 West Hedding Street, San Jose CA 95112. Gardner is a “Founding Sponsor” at this event and will have a booth with information on services offered to our community and give away sport bottles and other freebies.

Oral Health in Gilroy South County Health Center

The Dental Department at the South County Health Center, is seeing "First 5" patients, through referrals made from children enrolled in any "First 5" Program. The office is doing screenings, dental exams, and cleanings. It is a 3 year pilot program that Gardner and the First 5 Program are collaborating on, to promote oral health in children.

December, 2007: CompreCare's 8th Annual Christmas Party for the patients. (food baskets, gifts for children and adults and a Christmas dinner).

Diabetes Group Classes at St James and Gardner Clinics

The Nutrition Services Department offers a 2 hour group diabetes class at St James Clinic. It is scheduled on the second Thursday of the month and alternates English one month and Spanish the next. We also have a Spanish class the third Wednesday every other month at Gardner Clinic. They provide an excellent opportunity for patients to learn all aspects of diabetes self-management. Family members are always welcome to attend. Classes are taught by our Registered Dietitians/Diabetes Educators. A variety of diabetes subjects are discussed to help patients live a healthy normal life and avoid diabetes complications.
